VENEERS

Veneers are a cosmetic dental treatment option that can restore many appearance difficulties encountered with your teeth. Your Colney Hatch dentist may recommend Veneers as an appropriate option for your cosmetic needs.

Why Veneers?

Veneers are made of very thin sheets of porcelain or composite material and are designed to fit against the surface of your tooth like a false fingernail fits over your nail. Their use is recommended for a number of dental circumstances, including:

  • Improving tooth colour when teeth whitening products cannot be used or cannot whiten the tooth surface due to damage or stubborn stains

  • Improving tooth colour when teeth whitening products cannot be used or cannot whiten the tooth surface due to damage or stubborn stains

  • Restoring teeth with small chips

  • Closing small gaps between teeth when an orthodontic solution isn't suitable

Veneers can be colour-matched to your existing teeth for a completely natural look and feel. This cosmetic dental option needs very little tooth preparation, as it is bonded directly to the tooth surface.

Your Veneer treatment will require two visits with your dentist. Your first visit prepares your teeth for bonding the Veneer, which entails a gentle "scuffing" of the tooth surface, and then the dentist will determine the colour match for the Veneer. Your second visit will involve your dentist "dry-fitting" the Veneer to ensure perfect fit, and then bonding the Veneer in place.

Your dentist will instruct you as to the proper care of your Veneer and will answer any questions.
